I assisted with a presentation in my 3rd grader’s class that included a discussion on how what we learn, even as early as our elementary school years, helps to build foundations for what we do in our careers as adults. Aside from the usual attempts to convince them their 3 digit multiplication really will help them some day, and science will keep them from blowing things up, I included the “Fruit of the Spirit” in our conversation since the children attend a Christian private school.
The 9 principles of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control are often easier for children to comprehend for everyday life usage than history, science, and math, and are great skills to apply to career discussions as well. It was fun to hear 8 & 9 year olds talk about how their doctor shows patience, or their waiter shows kindness, and how a fireman or policeman are examples of self control. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with these awesome kids!
When I came home, I still had the “Fruit of the Spirit” song jingling in my head, so I put that inspiration to good use and made this pretty printable to share with my bloggy friends.
The original is done in very soft pastel colors, but I have supplied a darker and brighter version as well.
They are all perfect for Easter and Spring and would be great for the following uses:
- framed art
- a throw pillow
- dish towels
Here’s a photo of my framed copy on a guest room side table… (I used the darker tones)
